This guide provides information and instruction to faculty, students, and staff with regard to interlibrary loan and the use of RACER

Policies and Procedures for External Libraries

The University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) lends books and supplies photocopies of journal articles to other Libraries. To check the Library's holdings for books, please use the Library Catalogue and in order to check for journal articles, please use the Citation Locator .

Loans

The Library will normally lend books from the circulating collection for three weeks from date of receipt, with no renewals. All loans are subject to recall.

Not Available:  Reserve materials, reference materials, archival materials, audio-visual materials and any other materials that are in high demand by UOIT students/faculty/staff.

Periodicals

The Library will not lend periodicals but will send photocopies of articles subject to copyright limitations.

How to order

Requests must be submitted by using the OCUL RACER Web Form or via OCLC's WorldShare Interlibrary Loan Platform. Please provide your Library Symbol on each request and observe the standard interlibrary loan protocol of submitting only one request per message.

Requests are not accepted by telephone or email.  Rush service is not available.

Charges:  No charge to OCUL & Ontario College Libraries for loans or photocopies. Charges may apply to other institutions. Charge details will be supplied before any material is shipped.
