Borrowing Material

It is not necessary to register for Distance Education Services to access online resources.

If you qualify as a Distance Education Borrower, Ontario Tech circulating material that is currently 'in library' will be checked out to you and mailed to your home. Normal loan periods apply. Material must be in receipt of the library by the due date or fines will incur. Non-circulating and reserve material will be photocopied and mailed to your home. Copyright restrictions apply.

If there are irregularities with requests library staff will contact you using the email address we have on record.

Find Books

Search the Library catalogue for specific titles or topics

Find eBooks in the Library catalogue or search eBooks Collections.

E-book records do not have call numbers but contain a link to the item. Click on the link provided and enter your login information to access these books. You must have internet access to use these resources.

Placing Holds

Material that is currently on loan to another patron should be requested using the Place a Request for Library Material Form.

A hold will be placed on the material and it will be sent to you when it has been returned to the library. Do not place a hold directly through the library catalogue unless you want to pick the item up at a Ontario Tech library.

Books & eBooks

The Library has traditional print and electronic resources. To access ebooks and streaming video from off-campus you will need to use your network login.

Use ACE To Find Alternate Format Books

The Accessible Content E-Portal (ACE) provides alternate formats (PDFs, Daisy, ePub and plain text) for print books in the Library collection.

Who can use ACE? Any library user with a documented print disability that is registered with Ontario Tech University's Student Accessibility Services office.

How to use ACE? Contact to receive an ACE token. Once you have your token:
